Atlanta Remodeling Contractor with Proven Track Record
Atlanta Remodeling Contractor with Proven Track Record
The Company has operated as a state-licensed and fully insured home renovation business for over 20 years, completed over 800 projects in that period, with a customer database exceeding 1000 homeowners and works (almost) entirely as a referral-based business.
Company History
Founded in 2004 by the current owner, the Company specializes in home remodeling. The Company provides a premier services solution for renovation work, updating bathrooms and kitchens, or creating additional living space for growing families via additions, finished basements, and/or outdoor living spaces. Small-scale architectural design services can also be made available to clients who don’t have or aren’t interested in working with an architect.
Well Positioned for Future Revenue and Profit Growth
The Company does exclusively “in-town” work, no further south than Candler/Inman Park, north to Buckhead/Brookhaven, and east to Decatur, with a lot of work being done in the Virginia Highlands/Morningside/Ansley area. On occasion, it has worked in Sandy Springs/Dunwoody/Smyrna, but only based on a referral from a previous client,
The homes in the target geography, because of their age and size, are prime for renovation work, whether it be updating bathrooms and kitchens, or creating more living space for growing families (via additions, finished basements, and/or outdoor living spaces).
Products and Services
From full-scale second-story tear-offs/additions, basement/attic conversions, and exterior face-lifts to kitchen/bath renovations, sunrooms, decks, and screened/covered porches, the Company is able to both enhance the value of a client’s property and create a living environment that meets the needs and expectations of today’s family.
Unique Attributes
The Company’s client demographic of an intown homeowner: they have the disposable income to afford the cost of an intown renovation, which is typically higher than projects done outside the perimeter. Many clients are parents of younger children who need more space (to accommodate a growing family) and/or want a fresher look to an older home that they feel is outdated. Clients will often self-fund, especially for those projects smaller in scope, or for larger projects, finance the project through a lending institution.
The Company takes a unique two-step approach to pricing, first giving clients a “ballpark” price for their project (based on a simple unit-costing approach). Depending on the scope of a project, this pricing can often be done over an initial Zoom call or through an on-site client meeting. The second step in the process involves the client first paying a retainer (up to $1,000) and then, upon receipt of the retainer, scheduling of an on-site meeting with staff members, trade contractors, and vendors resulting in a fixed-price job estimate from each trade for their specialty. These trade bids are what serve as the basis for a fixed price bid. The introduction of the retainer 6 years ago, along with the use of Zoom calls during and post-pandemic, has reduced much of the time wasted identifying qualified clients who are serious about getting their project done well, have a reasonable budget commensurate with the quality of work that’s expected and are genuinely interested in working specifically with the Company.
People
The Production of each project is managed by a team of two, a Field Superintendent, who manages the trades and their on-site performance, AND a Project Coordinator, who is the clients’ main communication link and manages all client-related administrative activities (i.e., email/text/phone communication, trade scheduling, project schedules, payment schedules, etc.). Currently the Company has six employees including the Owner, his wife (who serves as Financial Manager), Sales Coordinator, Field Superintendent, Project Coordinator, and Office Coordinator. They also have a field staff of 3 (paid as 1099 contractors) who handle field-level activities like site prep & clean-up, punch out work, trim carpentry, painting, and the like.
