What have you accomplished this year as a GABB Board member?
I kept the association solid from the financial stand-point by budgeting well and making sure that we, the Board, stuck to the original plan, Pre-COVID-19.
How has the GABB helped you improve as a professional business broker?
GABB has always made available to its members great information and strong educational programs on areas that matter: lending, legal, coaching and inside collegial experience sharing.
What advice would you give to people who are trying to build a business brokering practice?
They need to fully understand the business. What’s required, and what it really takes to be successful. Many people I meet want to get in for the commissions they hear from others. And that is a wrong reason to be a business broker. We do need passion for it, problem solving and educational skills, eagerness to help business owners, patience, tenacity, perseverance and a huge desire to succeed no matter what. I sometimes believe that it is much easier to be a rocket scientist than a business broker. At least the former has an organized path you could follow.
What habits do you have that you think make you successful?
A huge reluctance to fail and a commitment to succeed by helping others doing it with me.
What else would you like to tell us?
Everything Transworld Business Advisors of Atlanta North has accomplished is due to us being a strong team of individuals, embracing business brokerage as a lifestyle and not as a job/role/business. We trust each other, share and expect help from the team, and we are absolutely relentless on achieving our clients’ goals. So, when you hire one of us: Lisa Young, Pedro Ferreira, Michael Horwitz, Neal Sultan or Jon Roman, you are hiring the entire group. It’s a blessing to be part of a team such as ours.
