REALTORS® Lobbyist Spoke to GABB on March 31
ATLANTA, GA. – Lennie Shewmaker, the Georgia Governmental Affairs Director of the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS®, spoke on March 31 about federal, state and local laws that affect property rights at the monthly meeting of the Georgia Association of Business Brokers. GABB is the state’s largest professional organization dedicated to buying and selling businesses and franchises.
Her professional experience includes state and federal campaign finance and political action committee management, public policy positions with the United States House of Representatives and private government relations firms, state campaign management, federal criminal defense, and lobbying and public policy law and management.
GABB members represent owners of Georgia businesses and help them establish the sales price of their business, create marketing plans and strategies for the sale of their business, identify and qualify potential buyers, and work to protect the confidentiality of the entire process. Many of today’s business buyers are individuals who have decided not to re-enter corporate America, but are ready to control their own destiny by purchasing and operating a Georgia business.
Shewmaker coordinates the boards’ legislative and regulatory agenda and promotes REALTOR® interests to local governments across the region in her capacity as both Director of Governmental Affairs for the Atlanta Board of REALTORS® and the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS®. She holds a J.D. from the University of Georgia Lumpkin School of Law and a certificate in international trade law from Oxford University in England. Shewmaker graduated with honors from Birmingham-Southern College with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a distinction in Leadership Studies.
The GABB’s monthly meetings start at 10:30 a.m. at the South Terraces Conference Center following a free light breakfast and networking session at 9:45 a.m. The South Terraces Conference Center is at 115 Perimeter Center Place, Atlanta.
