GABB Today Oct. 2013: IBBA Speaker, Million Dollar Club, GREC Updates
GABB Meeting next Tuesday to feature IBBA Executive Director Karl Kirsch, CAE
Breakfast with the Brokers: The International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) https://www.ibba.org/ is the largest international non-profit association operating exclusively for people and firms engaged in business brokerage and mergers and acquisitions. The association, based in Atlanta, provides business brokers education, conferences, professional designations, and networking opportunities. Formed in 1983, the IBBA has almost 1,000 business intermediaries across the world.
The IBBA strives to create a professional relationship with successful business transaction advisors (i.e. CPAs, bankers, attorneys, and other related associations), to increase the image and value of the IBBA to its members and to be a leader in the exchange of business referrals. A membership in the IBBA is described as “the most complete package of membership benefits and services; the best networking opportunities and most influential group of business brokers.”
Join the Georgia Association of Business Brokers Tuesday morning for a light breakfast and to hear more about this influential business brokering organization. GABB members and guests are always welcome to start networking at 9:45 a.m. before the monthly meeting starting at 10:30 a.m. at the South Terraces Conference Center, 115 Perimeter Center Place, Atlanta, GA, 30346. The Georgia Association of Business Brokers (GABB) is the state’s only professional organization dedicated to buying and selling businesses and franchises.
An experienced GABB business broker can help a buyer find businesses for sale, negotiate a fair price and obtain financing. A broker can help an owner evaluate and price a business, market and advertise to prospective buyers, negotiate and close a deal. The GABB Web site lists hundreds of businesses for sale throughout Georgia, as well as around the country. The GABB meets on the last Tuesday of every month except December.
Sign up for the GABB Holiday Party: GABB’s annual Holiday Gala is set for Maggiano’s on the evening of Thursday, December 5. All GABB members and affiliates may bring one guest to this festive evening of fellowship and wonderful food. We ask that each guest bring one, new, unwrapped toy to be donated to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta. There will be no other charge unless a person not signed up attends, or someone signs up and doesn’t show, in which case we will charge $25 per head for those not compliant. GABB does this to insure an accurate head count.
Feel like a Million Dollars? Great! Then get your paperwork together and start signing up for the GABB’s Million Dollar Club. GABB members who have eligible sales at least $1 million during the 12-month period ending Oct. 31, 2013, are eligible to apply. For more information on the GABB Million Dollar Club rules and to apply online. Please contact GABB Communications Director Diane Loupe at dloupe@mindspring.com if you have questions or problems using the GABB’s new online application for this honor.
Georgia Real Estate Commission News: GABB’s Kathryne A. Pusch, President & Broker of ConsultKAP, Inc., represents the Business Brokerage Industry on the Education Advisory Committee to the GREC. In a posting on the GABB website, she reports about the issues causing the most complaints for investigations, possible changes in reciprocity for licensing, possible increases in continuing education standards, a recent clarification on rebates to principals in a transaction, and lawful presence. Is your internet advertising following the rules and regulations set out by the GREC? Can you define stabilized NOI?
